The nurse called me about 5 till 5 this afternoon from the OB's office and said that my hCG had not doubled like it should, so the consensus was that I was probably going to miscarry this baby. They wanted me to go to Union Regional Hospital right then for a level II ultrasound. She also told me not to eat or drink after midnight b/c my OB would probably go ahead and do a D&C Friday afternoon if they found the pregnancy was not progressing. Having the wind knocked out of our sails, yet again, we headed off to the hospital. By this time of day, REACH was closed so consulting with them first wasn't an option. We went ahead to the hospital. I wanted to see what was showing up on the ultrasound. A level II is so much more detailed, so I was sure they could tell us right then and there what was going on. They scanned me for 30-40 minutes and told us to go to the waiting room and a doctor would speak with us soon. We waited until almost 8:00 pm and the receptionist kept telling us that my doctor had been paged three times and would not call back, so they had to page another doctor from the practice. He finally called back and talked to me over the phone. He said he had talked to the hospital ultrasound doctor and that he was sorry to have to tell me but there was nothing on the ultrasound but "a collection of fluid and maybe a little tissue." Yet again, we went home completely floored. He told me to see my regular OB in the office at 10:00 Friday morning to go over the results further. I am still not believing this is happening.
